Assignment 2

For this week, we are given a task from miss Elaine to create or to identify a new business. The business that we going to do must base on science and technologies as well as good for social applied. So, after we were discussing about these projects, we came out with an interesting idea and we named it :

1. Our transcopy business will produce, create and supply self-service photocopy machine . This kind of business will give an efficient service to the users . This is because, customers only need to provide coin to use our photocopy machine. Only when the customers insert the coin, then the machine will work. It is very easy to use.

2. For our business, we have our own unique point. There are :

• we can use it by ourself
• does no need any workers to operate the photocopy machine
• easy for customers to use it at anytime.
• can print handout, photo as well as scanning service
• coloured printer are provided

3. We had identify our target customer . Usually a photocopy machine was very useful for students to print their handout or lecture note. So, here, we only target on two customers, which are ;

• students of university or school
• workers of university or school

Based on our informations, we knew that normally students face a lot of problem to print their lecture note. This may be due to no printer at home , far, have to que-up to take turn, workers problem, and also the shop closed early. So, this kind of problems can be solved by TRANSCOPY. Transcopy will be put at hostel ,office, or maybe faculty in order to provide efficient printing service for students and workers . It is just simple as ABC :)

3. We have done a survey on opinion towards Photostat machine. There were 50 respondents whose mostly University of Malaya’s students from difference gender and races. We actually want to know their problem regarding to the Photostat problems. So, these are example of our questionaire :

Based on the survey, 35 students do not own a printer in their room. While another 16 students own a printer by themselves. Majority of the respondents feel difficulties to print any handouts especially the lecture’s note. There are about 22 students felt forced to walk far just to Photostat their notes. But there are equal amount of students who are willing and not willing to walk far to Photostat.  Most of them print their notes at the hostel while 20 of them prefer the Photocopy’s shop at the faculty and only 4 students print at their house. 30 students not satisfy with the photocopy’s shop environment and 21 students find that the places satisfied them.

44 of the students agree that they not ever find any place that provides 24-houred photocopy services and 7 of them have found it at their residential places. When they are asked about having a Photostat’s machine that can be used by using coins just like the water cans box and operates 24 hours, majority of them prefer it. But only one student who are not preferred it. Majority spoke that they want us to provided the photocopy’s machines at the hostel, while only 6 of them want the machines to be put outside of the lecture hall.

In conclusion, we can said that this idea are quite reasonable and comfortable for our target customer. This transcopy will give efficient service to all students and workers in university, school or in any office. :)
